BlackOps Multiplayer Reveal Event!

The day has come. September 1st is when we learn about all thing related to CoD: Black Ops multiplayer, well most things.

The event was speculated to have a live stream for everyone to watch, that wasn’t so true. Just as the event was starting, Treyarch told the attendees that streaming would not be allowed and that a video of the event would be released tomorrow. I got most of my information from OneOfSwords live blog feed and I will compact it for all to read.

For the most part, the event showcased many of the new features to Black Ops MP. New weapons, killstreaks, perks, to name a few. The first gameplay footage of the evening opens with a snow level map called Summit. It’s being played in a new MP game mode called Combat training. Long story short as the game mode would suggest, you can practise with bots or “practice dummies”. It has it’s own ranking system and is co-op ready. The only new thing shown is the ability to dive through windows. Yes, dive.

There is a total over haul with create-a-class. perk 1 has an impact on your character look. ex: If you’r a ghost, you wear a ghillie suit…If you pick a flak jacket, it shows you wearing it and you take less explosive damage. Pretty interesting I must say. Your equipment includes: Camera Spike, C4, Tactical Insertion, Motion Sensor and Claymore. Killstreaks. Some new ones to mention include the Death Machine (Quoted as “an epuc gatlight”), the Grim Reaper (Rocket launcher), Napalam Strike, Gunship, Mortar Team, SAM Turret and of course the RC-XD. There where more, but where not mentioned.

COD Points! The new in game currency system of unlocking perks, camos, guns, etc. How do you earn them? Simply play online and instead of unlocking your guns or perks as you normally would, you earn points for them.

Some new game modes to mention: Wager Match. Simply described as “Put your COD Points against other players and the top three people get paid in the match”. Includes 4 new FFA game types. The 4 types are: One in the Chamber, Stick and Stones, Gun Game and Sharp Shooter.

Weapon customization is a big thing now. New camos, attachments, etc. You now have the ability to change your dot sight to select colours. You can even create your very own emblem and put it on your gun. The emblem editor sounds similar to that of Halos.

The last piece of info from the event is Theatre Mode. All Xbox Live gamers have the ability to play back, search, and tag other peoples videos. No mention of exporting or sending to the call of duty website. For a sneak preview of theatre mode, Inside Xbox will have a video out tomorrow showcasing theatre mode.

And the event is finished. Everyone is heading over to another building where they have a chance to play some MP. Final conclusion: Everything that was bad about CoD:WaW has been fixed, improved upon and expanded. Treyarch has stepped up their game with Black Ops and I feel it’s going to be a huge success. No beta was confirmed and nor was a zombie co-op return. I really cannot wait to see what else is in store for us gamers before release date.

Thanks for reading and remember to RSS the feed to get notified instantly of new posts. On this very late evening and special post, I’m out. See you in the next post.

I was thinking to myself, why not share my first impressions with all you. I haven’t fully decided in what media form I would do it, but defiantly expect a very long post next Friday.

Other then that, I’m going to cut this post now and get everything prepared for my new Mac. Stay tuned with TPOA for my first impressions and full review.

Decision time

On August 20, 2010, in Computer's, DJ Gardner, Strictly Apple, by DJGardner

Hello everyone. It’s Friday and as promised I’ve got another post for you.

As the title says, decision time, I’m at the point in my life where I decide my computer for the duration of my college life. To be honest, I’ve been looking around at almost every single computer made since October 2009, looking for the right one to suit my needs. What are my needs exactly? Well in my first post I mentioned I was in the Game Development program at George Brown College in Toronto. Pretty much I will be using the computer to well, make video games. I will be using graphic and CPU intensive programs such as Photoshop, 3D Studio Max and UDK to name a few. I knew it had to be fast, but also in a laptop package. My first guess was a Mac. I’ve never used one as my personal computer and when people told me that it was the easiest computer system you’ll ever used, I decided to check them out. I went to the Apple Store the next day and took a look. I was AMAZED! I had my eye set on the lower-end 15-inch i5 MacBook Pro since the beginning. It had everything I wanted. Speed, power, awesome graphics and the fact it was for an amazing price.

To make a long story short, I will be getting my new MacBook Pro next week, but not exactly what I wanted. For all the teens that live with your parents, beware of their trickery. They told me they would match whatever I made to the dollar; they changed their mind last minute. Basically they said to “down grade”, so now I will be getting the lower end 13-inch MacBook Pro. Let’s just say that if this 13-inch MBP doesn’t preform to what I need it to do, my parents will regret making me “down grade”.

My fellow geeks, nerds, whatever you wish to be called, thanks for reading and take the time to comment. What is your experience with the 13-inch, 2.4GHz MBP? Does it preform to you standards? I want to hear.

Until next time, I’m out.,

The Droid 2

The new Droid 2 from Verizon featuring froyo, af ull QWERTY keyboard and they made the buttons a little bigger on this for us fat thumbed people.

The 2 is basically the X but without a couple of hardware additions which include: HD video shooting and an HDMI output.  I have been reading a lot of reviews that say the HDMI output isn’t used very often anyways, and a lot of content avenues are somehow blocking access to using this as a means to stream their content onto a TV.

This Phone Boosts an 8mp camera, but looking at the camera sensor size it’s pictures won’t be as sharp or have a color accuracy of the iPhone 4.

Over all this looks to be a great phone, and it’s not on AT&T.

Hello!!!

Fellow TPOA readers! My name is DJ Gardner, your new blogger for TPOA. I decided it would be sutiable to introduce myself to you, so no one is a stranger on these parts of the web.

I myself have been blogging about my personal life experiences and even a little bit of tech for about a year. I eventually went over board with the blogging and found myself doing it 3-5 times a day. Long story short, I’ve stopped all my blog sites, and decided to join Josh and the rest of the crew at TPOA. I’ve just started putting on the Apple fanboy pants, and will be making the switch from PC to Mac within the next 2 weeks. I’ve also been using Apple products for over 3 years and have a decent knowledge of the history of Apple.  I was told TPOA isn’t just about Apple, so expect reviews of products from various tech companies other then Apple. If I’m allowed, I hope to expand TPOA on YouTube with video reviews and unboxings. Yes I play video games. Currently only have an Xbox 360, but hope to get a PS3 for (as insane as it sounds) college purposes, and yes, I’m in a video game development program.

I ‘m hoping to beable to blog once a week, maybe on Wednesday or Friday. Anything that has happened recently or stuff I feel deserves to be blogged will be.

I hope everyone will enjoy my future posts and grow my fan base on TPOA.

Until the next post,

DJ G.
